What I Serve When Friends Come Over
When tomatoes are in season, I plan everything around them.
They’re just better this time of year — sweeter, more flavorful, and honestly don’t need much to shine.
If I’m having people over in the summer, this is the kind of menu I love: simple, fresh, and built around ingredients that really stand out.
Here’s what I’d serve:
Bruschetta Crostini with Marinated Tomatoes
This is a must. Juicy, marinated tomatoes piled onto crisp crostini — simple, fresh, and always the first thing to disappear.
Burrata and Prosciutto Appetizer
Creamy burrata, salty prosciutto, and fresh tomatoes come together in the easiest, most elegant way. It looks beautiful with almost no effort.
Summer Peach Panzanella Salad
A twist on a classic, with sweet peaches and fresh tomatoes. It’s bright, slightly unexpected, and perfect for a summer table.
Caprese Empanadas
These are so fun — all the flavors of caprese tucked into a crispy, handheld bite. Great for serving and something a little different.
Eggplant Tomato Sauce
Rich, slow-simmered flavor with peak-season tomatoes and eggplant. Perfect to serve over pasta or alongside the rest of the spread.
This is the kind of menu that feels effortless but still thoughtful — a few great ingredients, simple recipes, and a table you can actually enjoy.
If you’re hosting this summer, I’d love to know what you’re making, feel free to respond and let me know!
Happy Cooking!
Christina 💛
